Woodbridge School District is a high-performing K-6 district with one large elementary school of 850 students and 75 certified professional educators. Families move to Woodbridge for the high quality of education, so we are one of the few districts in the state with a growing enrollment.
Beecher Road School is recognized as a high-quality school. Children learn at Beecher Road School through outstanding programs and multiple primary resources. The Library Media Center serves as the center of the school’s Resource-Based Learning program, through which students use other-than-textbook resources to conduct research, prepare reports, make presentations and learn in other ways.
Having a single elementary school in Woodbridge has many advantages, including targeting fiscal resources towards one location and allowing for optimal utilization.
The Woodbridge School District is a participant in several regional initiatives to reduce racial isolation between urban and suburban communities, including the Wintergreen Magnet School, the Area Cooperative Education Services (ACES) Regional Summer Enrichment Program School and Project Choice, which allows students from the New Haven Public Schools to attend. Other school-based efforts include sister- school relationships, urban suburban/exchanges and an annual Diversity Day devoted to enhancement of multicultural perspectives of our students.
An Extended Day Program serves the needs of the community by providing after-school childcare in the school through a wide range of creative and enriching activities geared to student selection based on the interests of participants.
The Beecher community enjoys a very high level of parent involvement and support. The fiscal resources of the PTO provide an exceptional program of class enrichment presentations in support of curriculum and generous funding for school needs as well as identified projects of special interest.
Woodbridge is located northwest of New Haven. Rural in character, it is a suburban town of 9,400 residents.
