Description
This scholarship is awarded to a prospective teacher of color who is enrolled in a teacher-preparation program at a college or university in Connecticut or alternate route program and is currently engaged in their student teaching experience. Those eligible include prospective teachers of Asian American, Black or African American, Hispanic/Latino, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, or Native American heritage. The program awards $1000 to one prospective teacher to help them with their academic goals. The recipient will be publicly recognized at Connecticut Teacher of the Year events and will be invited to participate in various professional development opportunities facilitated by the Connecticut Teacher of the Year Council.
Demographic and contact information are required to apply. In addition to an essay response and resumé, your application will include two letters of recommendation, one of which must be from the individual who nominates you, such as a professor, dean, administrator, cooperating teacher, or others in a formal, professional capacity. The other must be from another individual who can speak to your character and work in a formal, professional capacity in one of the aforementioned roles.
