About

The Griswold Public Schools offer a comprehensive educational program to over 1,800 students in grades PK-12 on a campus setting where three of our four schools are located. Our Alternative School is located in another part of town.

This program includes a strong early childhood program, core academics at all levels, fine and applied arts, health and fitness, career pathway offerings, college credit bearing courses, as well as special education, remedial support and an alternative school.

A vigorous academic climate and high expectations for all students are at the core of our educational community.  Over 70 percent of graduating seniors continue their education after high school, and the district has boasted Governor’s scholars in 2009, 2010 and 2018.

Our teachers and administrators continuously engage in professional development, and we have a vision of learning and success in our schools that will position our students well to enter institutions of higher education and to succeed in the professional and work world of the 21st century.

The school district is well recognized for programming and for student accomplishments in many areas. All three schools have makerspaces. Our career pathway program includes opportunities in a certified nurse’s aide program; a print shop; food and fashion technology; computers;  light/sound/video technology; and industrial technology. This pathway program is recognized as one of the strongest in Connecticut.

Outstanding athletic teams have achieved numerous conference and state championships over recent years in cross country, track, soccer, softball, football, volleyball, basketball and baseball. Musical productions, choral and band opportunities involve high percentages of students.

We house a satellite campus of Sacred Heart University. Our district campus is unique. With grounds on a riverside setting, there are ample fields and opportunities for athletics, recreation and nature studies. The campus is also a valuable asset for community use as a community center. Our campus is conveniently located close to I395.
