Hamden is an engaging place to work and grow as an educator. The rich diversity of our students affords teachers the opportunity to interact with families from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. Our differences are what make us stronger. I am proud to be a part of a district that collaborates to provide high quality instruction. We pride ourselves on meeting the needs of diverse learners which promotes acceptance for all students.

Why I Teach
As an African-American woman, it is important for students from all backgrounds to have an opportunity to learn from teachers who are a reflection of them. I became a teacher because I am passionate about building bridges and creating pathways for children to succeed. I strive to form authentic relationships with students. Creating partnerships between home and school help develop a feeling of self-worth, agency, and resiliency. I am inspired by the growth that occurs when children know they have a strong team supporting them. As Dr. James P. Comer once said, “No significant learning occurs without a significant relationship". I hope learning with me will be a springboard to amazing accomplishments in their lives, families, communities.
