The most rewarding part of teaching is knowing that I am making a difference in my school community. Knowing that I am helping people, students and staff alike, to make their experiences a little more enjoyable and easier. It’s not for recognition or accolades. It’s because I know what students and staff in my district deserve, a fighting chance at an equitable education.
New Teacher Starting Salary
As a diverse community of more than 10,000 students, we believe measuring success for each child looks just as diverse. However, what remains absolutely critical to achieving that goal is the commitment by every one of our educators to providing an environment in which each student can achieve their personal best.
The development of the whole child, to make them future and career ready is our true north star in New Britain. We need motivated and dedicated educators who connect with our students in pursuit of what we call the Profile of the New Britain Graduate. The Profile of the New Britain Graduate identifies five attributes that we believe young people must possess to succeed personally and professionally when they leave their time with us. Those attributes are:

• Critically & creatively solve problems
• Grow in empathy & cross cultural understanding
• Take initiative & persevere
• Engage in meaningful communication
To achieve this goal for each of our students, we need committed and talented educators to lead “hands-on, minds-on” learning that engages students and prepares them for our ever-changing world. Our commitment to STEAM education, engaging learners at all levels, and challenging students to creatively and actively participate in the learning process while making a better world is vital to developing students who meet the Profile of a New Britain Graduate.
The Consolidated School District of New Britain is invested in constantly improving the quality of education for all of our students, aiming to provide them with the tools and resources they need to succeed in the future. Salary is commensurate with experience. First year teacher salary is $47,000.
CSDNB’s "grow your own" model is a tiered approach to supporting students interested in the field of education. Our Young Educators Society (YES) program is geared towards middle school students. Middle schoolers have multiple opportunities to engage with elementary students through structured classroom visits. The goal is to turnkey early interest in education from the middle school level into a career pathway at the high school. Educators Rising (EdRising) is formalized careers pathways in education for high school students. Students engage in course work and field experiences to prepare them to be skilled and highly qualified professionals serving in their community.
