Throughout my educational journey, I’ve had exceptional teachers who care about their students and strive to positively impact the community. Also, I have family members who are teachers that take pride in helping their students learn and grow. Their passion for teaching has inspired me to foster a love for learning and students.

I love teaching music to my elementary students. Their sense of wonder and their unbounding curiosity is exhilarating. Students’ musical knowledge grows through exploration of familiar music and music from around the world. Most of all, I enjoy sharing their excitement when we sing a new song or play a game. To see the marvel in their eyes as they experience music reaffirms my commitment to being an educator.

    Why I Teach

At Region 15 we care about students’ well-being and education, as well as supporting our colleagues. Since I began teaching elementary music in Region 15, the Department remains supportive professionally and personally. We collaborate by creating common goals across the district, sharing ideas, and “aha moments”. I know that if I have ideas or questions, there is always another educator to bounce ideas off of.

As a member of Region 15’s Global Citizenship and Character Committee, I collaborate with other staff and community members to work towards nurturing students’ self respect. We encourage students to have compassion for themselves and others, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, social class, disability, religion, appearance, or sexual orientation.

These goals take time to develop, but the work is important in creating a society that is inclusive to all. Here at Region 15 we are committed to our students’ well-being and providing a quality education.
