Hear from Megan Konikowski about the peers and administrators who make a stressful environment a place for work-family.
Meet Megan Konikowski
Teacher Ambassador
Solterra Academy is a private special education facility, formally known as CCMC School. This is a placement for kids who have behaviors and needs that can't be met and addressed in a public school setting. These kids come to us with experiences and emotions that have impacted their ability to learn and thrive in all areas of their life. It’s a challenging job, but one that I love. The people I work with are amazing. The level of support from my peers and administrators makes this stressful environment a place where I want to be. Everyone looks out for one another. We’re a family.

Why I Teach
Everyday my job is different. There is always something new to learn or experience with my students. They constantly do things that surprise me, whether it be a question they ask or a skill they’re able to grasp. Sometimes it’s hard and it’s often exhausting, but these difficult times are far outweighed by the times the students shine. I get to laugh everyday with them. I get to learn with them; they often teach me in ways I can’t imagine. I can’t imagine doing anything else.
