Dedicated Teachers
Hear from Jamie Lang about how South Windsor Public Schools encourages teachers to continuously provide authentic, relevant experiences in their classrooms.
Teacher Ambassador
South Windsor Public Schools knows that their teachers are here for the right reasons and that we genuinely want to make a difference. They believe in us and support us, just as we believe in and support our students. They challenge us to continuously provide authentic, relevant experiences in our classrooms. I come to work every day and feel valued, respected, trusted, supported and empowered to do what is right for each and every one of my students.
My students are amazing! Every day I have the privilege to work and interact with young people who are creative, collaborative, invested, kind, hard-working and empathetic. They crave responsibility, agency and, above all, to make their mark on the world.

New Teacher Starting Salary
The South Windsor Public Schools district is comprised of four elementary schools (K-5), one middle school (6-8), and one high school (9-12), as well as a pre-school program and Young Adult Transition Academy, with a total district enrollment of approximately 4,300 students.
South Windsor is known for its commitment to education. Enrollment in our schools is steadily increasing at a pace faster than almost all other districts in the Greater Hartford area. Families are moving to South Windsor for the schools and the dedicated staff working inside them.
Our district is in the midst of a 10 year comprehensive Elementary Facilities Plan. A brand new Orchard Hill Elementary School opened in August 2017. Two other elementary schools (Eli Terry and Phillip R. Smith) are currently under new construction and will be ready for students and staff in August 2020, and it is our hope that a new Pleasant Valley School will open in August 2023.
The continued support of both our community and the town’s leadership has ensured that our staff is equipped with the resources it needs to deliver effective instruction while supporting the whole child. The District’s 2019-2022 Strategic Plan is focused on implementing major initiatives for the district over the next three years. It includes a focus on improving the district’s learning environment, curriculum and instruction, and providing professional learning for all staff.
The 2015-2018 Strategic Plan brought many new initiatives into the district, including, but not limited to: a K – 5 Stem program at all four elementary schools, an elementary World Language Program, an Alternative Education Program for SWHS students, increased elective courses at SWHS, the deployment of 1:1 Chromebook devices for all secondary school students and partnering with Goodwin College for our 18-21 year old special education transition program. We are excited for what the future holds for South Windsor Public School students, staff and families, and invite anyone interested in being a part of our team to apply!
