4. Your education comes with financial aid 💸

If you’re concerned about costs, there’s good news: You have scholarship opportunities and financial aid options for your teacher training, including a $1,000 scholarship straight from us. Future CT teachers can also get reimbursed for program application and testing fees.

If you end up taking loans, Uncle Sam offers several programs that pay back loans and even cancel debt for teachers. (Yes, we said cancel.)

5. There’s a JOB waiting for YOU 💪

Right now, teachers are in high demand. According to the Connecticut Department of Labor, for professions that require a bachelor’s degree, teaching ranks among the highest for number of job openings. Connecticut hires 3,000 new teachers each year!

If you choose a state designated teacher shortage area like math, world languages or special education, you’ll have even more job opportunities. The faster you get started on your program the faster you’ll find that j.o.b.

6. Compensation packages are better than you’ve heard 😲

If you’ve been worried about making ends meet as a teacher, here’s some good news. In Connecticut, the average teacher salary is $72,000. That’s the fifth highest average in the nation! Several school districts also offer additional pay for advanced degrees, national board certification, school improvement and more.

Of course, you’ll also get health and dental insurance. (And did you know about the retirement, housing assistance and retail discounts?) Hear it from a teacher yourself.
