These include school districts run by local boards of education, regional districts run by regional boards of education, Regional Education Service Center (RESCs), public charter schools, districts run by other state agencies (e.g. Department of Children and Families), incorporated or endowed academies, and the Connecticut Technical Education and Career System.

APSEPs are state-approved private special education programs in day and residential, hospital, rehabilitation and treatment centers that meet the standards established by the State Board of Education for educating students with disabilities.
APSEPs serve public school students with disabilities in cases where it is determined that is the most appropriate and least restrictive educational setting for them. For more information, see Approved Private Special Education Programs.
